Guitar preview

Are you ready?

After my promise at the beginning of the year:

– I am going to work on my classical guitar this year. I really hope to practice 3 times a week and keep at it.  I tend to go in cycles with this.  In fact, to do this, I will commit to putting a video of myself on the blog playing something at the end of the year.      It may be Mary Had a Little Lamb, but I will do it… gulp…

I did practice – and about 6 days a week, too.  If you missed my post on what I learned from my guitar, check it out here.

Recording these videos has been an adventure.  First was finding a good spot to do it in with the best acoustics in the house I could find.  Hence my upstairs hallway shot LOL!

I also made mistakes a lot from some nerves and just general goofs.  (I should do an outtake video, although this is a family blog.). I had to decide which of the mistakes I made annoyed me the least to decide which take to use.

I will post a few videos over the next couple weeks for your enjoyment. I thought I would share a little short piece to start.  This is a Carulli prelude in G major

That was really good, Lori! You didn’t talk in the video though. I was curious if you’d say something. 🙂 Great job on achieving one of your goals.

Brava! And encore!!! This sounded really lovely, Lori! Thanks for sharing this one with us; looking forward to more! (And it beat the heck out of my kazoo solo video a couple of Christmases ago, that’s for sure.)

Lori! That was so lovely! What a beautiful tone on your new guitar. I was so impressed watching you. your hands seem small and yet you were able to reach all the cords. (that was why I thought I couldn’t play guitar at my one attempt at it.

I so enjoyed listening to you and I loved your big smile at the end. Thank you so much for being willing to share this with us!

    Lori,

You are a testament, in more ways than one, to what happens when a person sets their mind and heart to meeting a goal. Well done:) and thank you.

Your guitar solo was a treat — thank you so much! I loved your dynamics, too — can’t imagine that’s very easy to do when you’re picking. Again, thanks — looking forward to the next one!

Beautiful. I stumbled across your blog while searching for a one minute muffin recipe. I really enjoy hearing guitar and think you did an excellant job! I am learning to play the piano, a lifelong dream coming true. I recently bought a used guitar and hope to teach myself how to paly it too! Keep up the good work!
