The up early edition.

I was up too early this morning and I waited to see what time John would get up to go out for breakfast.  I worked for a while, then decided to take a shower before waking him up.

He actually appeared just before my shower and scared the bejeezus out me.

Conversation:

L:  Good morning!

J:  Mumble, mumble (I think this was “good morning” ).

L: It’s 37 degrees, we can bike to bagels.

J:  Mmmmmm…. no.

Shower time elapses, I get dressed, check weather again.

L:  It’s 41 degrees now, we can bike.

J:  It’s supposed to be raining.

L:  But it isn’t raining now.

J:  …silence

So, we drove to breakfast.     You know a sure fire way to annoy your significant other is to be all perky and cheerful in the morning when they just get out of bed.

I decided on a different approach today instead of a bagel.  Wednesday are a grain day for me, so I can have whatever I want.  I chose a blueberry scone:

This was flaky and not overly sweet, which was nice.

Rain was in the forecast, but still not raining, so I worked some and then went for a 3 mile walk.  Foot 98% better.  Yay!

Lunch time!  This was plain greek yogurt, pumpkin, a bit of honey, cinnamon and some of the grain-free bread chopped up in there.

Not pictured are the cashews I nibbled on.

Rain came after lunch.  It sure feels gloomy out right now.  It’s a day to snuggle up with one of these:

And some of this.

Please take the candy corn away!  The bag is almost gone, so I will be fine soon… I hope 😀

As you can see in that picture, Pixie was wide awake and raring to go today. I got her some “special” catnip, which she goes bananas for.  She is shredding a toy here.

I wouldn’t want to be a mouse caught by her.

Tiring day day, probably mostly because I did not get enough sleep, which led to some snacking on chocolate and nuts.

I finished up and made dinner:

Chicken!  I never have chicken….hahaha.

Tomorrow is the last tutor training session for me.  That was a lot to cram into 2 weeks. I think the hardest part is the time of the sessions being from 5 to 8 p.m.  That is just an odd time.  And especially after having worked all day.  I am getting excited, though.  I really hope I can make a difference for someone.

Now it’s time for my other “to do” item:

Practicing.  I can’t believe I am going to play guitar for the blog next month!  Can almost a year really has gone by already??  😯

Lori, your scone reminds me of those Pepperidge Farms fruit pie desserts that came frozen, and you would bake them (um, and then eat them piping hot with vanilla ice cream)(or is that just me???). Anyway, YUM!

Geez, I remember when you MADE that resolution to play the guitar…how in the world has this year gone by so fast?!?

Oh yeah, the turnovers! I loved those. We used to eat a lot of Pepperidge farm products.

It is scary how fast the time goes by, isn’t it?

Oh my goodness, I was a huge fan of the turnovers. I can taste them even now… Now I forgot what I was going to say about your blog.

Oh yeah. You are doing really great on getting your walks in. And I didn’t realize that we were going to get to hear you play–that will be something to look forward to!

When I did my list of goals for the year, practicing guitar was one of them. To make sure I carried it out, I promised to record myself for the blog at the end of the year. Eeeeep!!

The morning conversation with John and too funny and hit VERY close to home. Being the every morning early bird that I am, believe me,there have been many of those conversations in my den.

    Yahoo for your better foot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spy a candy corn in your Greek yogurt! That cracked me up AND the wandering Pixie in the picture of your hand of candy corn.. and then the playful Pixie which is too funny!!!

Looking forward to hearing that guitar playing!

I never have chicken either – or broccoli. Bah!

The scone looks so good and really flaky – almost like a croissant. But then again, everything grain-y looks good to me these days.

Your conversation with John could be very much one I would have with R. but I would be the John in this case. You really have to leave me alone in the morning and don’t ask me difficult questions like biking or driving to bagels 🙂 So as much as I love you, this time I’m on team John. 🙂

LOL at your morning conversation! Our daughter is not someone you want to talk with in the morning when she first gets up either.

So glad your foot is doing better.

Time does fly. I’m looking forward to the video. And I laughed out loud at your conversation with John. Glad your foot is almost back to 100%. And LOVE both shots of Pixie. Have a great Thursday Lori.

It’s so true about being perky when someone is such a downer in the morning. It’s kind of fun isn’t it?!
To be honest though, I’m with John, no way would I bike if it were 37 OR 41.

Oh goodness, Pixie was being a terror on her toy there LOL. I would not want to put my hand in there! She shreds all of her toys. That’s not too adorable (although funny to watch).

Can you tell me how you make your broccoli? Is it frozen? I LOVE roasting vegetables, especially cauliflower, zucchini, grape tomatoes, etc. I plan on mkaing them for Thanksgiving and I’d love to throw some broccoli in there!

I *always* use BirdsEye frozen baby broccoli florets. I keep a couple bags in my freezer at all times.

I put about a teaspoon of coconut oil in a saute pan, then add the frozen broccoli and a bit of S&P. Then I slap a lid on and shake it around a bit over medium to medium-high heat. It takes 5 or 6 minutes depending on the amount of broccoli I am cooking. Too high heat and the broccoli gets brown, but not cooked all the way through.
