Being busy!

Yesterday was such a good day.  John and I had a nice bagel,  a good time at the corn maze, squeezed in a bike ride, the Broncos won (finally) and I won the football picks this week! Good day indeed. If only Monday could be so good.

It is so dark out before 7 am now! Eeek! And cold, too. I had to scrape frost off the windshield to go to the gym this morning. Why do I have a suspicion this is going to be another winter like last year?  🙁

Exercise Set/rep/weight Muscle worked
Alternating Lunges 3 sets of 10 with 20# DBs (40# total) Lower body
Standing cable low row 3 sets of 10 at 40# Back
Incline Dumbbell Chest Press 3 sets of 10 with 20# DBs (40# total) Chest
Front Raise 3 sets of 10 with 8# DBs (16# total) Shoulders
Rope Crunch 3 sets of 15 at 30# Core
Kickbacks 3 sets of 10 with 15# DBs (30# total) Triceps
Seated Hamstring Curl 3 sets of 10 at 50# Hamstrings
Alternating Bird Dog 3 sets of 10 Balance and low back
Standing Calf Raise 3 sets of 10 at 80# Calves

Then I walked a mile on the treadmill.
Nice workout today. I used a machine for the hamstring curl, but I won’t use it much. It felt too awkward. My gym was quiet this morning except the music. I don’t really know why gyms have to play music at all. When I was at the Y, they didn’t play music and I could use my own headphones. Much better.

I was ready for a nice warm brekkie today!  I made some oats and topped with the apple cranberry topping.

Then I proceeded to burn my mouth!  Oops.  Hasty eating and I get payback.

I am feeling really busy right now.  I have a lot of stuff to get done in the next couple of days and I am starting to get the overwhelmed feeling.  John is so smart.  He says “Just do one thing at a time.”  He is my calming influence.

I took a break from work for lunch.  I got some Pacific Foods organic red pepper and tomato soup, which I actually blended in the bullet blender because I don’t like chunky veggie soups.  I added some red lentils to this to get more protein.

I have to say that I like this soup!  Normally I don’t like canned soup, but maybe because this was in one of those tetrapak boxes that it tasted good.  I will get more of this.  Easy cold weather dish.

John made up my latte and brought to me today because I had feline disease.  Check out this look of death as I was trying to get a picture of my coffee.

😀  This is how I have to work,  too, since I am such a sucker.

I took a break in the afternoon to get started on a soap order that I am making.  I made up a list of all the things I needed to get done today and began crossing things off, which feels better.

John actually offered to take me out to eat tonight (not football dinner, either) because how busy and stressed I was feeling.  We love to comfort with food around here. I actually turned him down because I don’t feel like I had time!  It will be much better by Wednesday.  I did ask him to fix the chicken for dinner, though.

He cooked up chicken  while I did the brussel sprouts.

I sauteed them in coconut oil with a little salt and pepper.  Simple, but tasty!

We took a walk after dinner (it was on my list so I wouldn’t forget to do it).  Already dark before we finished the walk.  Doesn’t it make you feel like hibernating?

I need to finish up work tonight and practice guitar.  I told myself no football until I practice my guitar.  I sound like such a parent! LOL.

I will be having a snack with some warm blueberries and whipped cream later, which I am really looking forward to!  For now, it is back to work!  This post is all over the place because that is kind of how my brain is right now.

Pink item of the day:  My gloves!  Note the dark in the evening.

Don’t you hate it when you are so busy that your mind feels disjointed? Alternately, you could have anesthesia brain and suffer the same affects, as I did. Either way, not a comfortable place to be, and I hope your crazybusy days DO calm down soon!

P.S. Pixie’s look of death is fierce!

The dark in the morning really sucks! I like music at the gym. I can’t stick anything in my ears…I have noticed almost everyone at our gym has iPods though.

Pixie is so funny…even giving us the evil eye!

You just reminded me about my sprouts…I will have to roast them tomorrow.

Yay to getting things crossed of your list!

What a great strength workout. I would really like to get more organized and start lifting – even if it’s just super light to start. Hard finding time to get to the gym lately!

Yikes. You have such a busy day and you still find time to blog? Well, I guess sometimes that helps to calm your mind.

Sophie is like Pixie–she always wants to be touching me or on top of me. Sometimes we practice ‘dog whisperer’ and she can lay next to me without touching me. Pixie would probably give you the evil eye if you tried to practice ‘dog whisperer’ stuff with her.

Blogging was on my little ‘to do’ list. 😀

Pixie actually doesn’t mind being moved. She is pretty laid back and I can pick her up, move her to another chair, and she will go right back to sleep. I am just a sucker for her when she is purring and kneading.

Making to do lists always helps me to get things under control when I’m busy. Nothing feels better than crossing things of the list.

I totally hear you about the dark. I’m leaving for work when it’s still dark, luckily I’m home when it’s still light but that won’t last long. Next weekend the clock is going backwards for an hour and it will be dark sooner at night.

I hope the Winter won’t be that bad for you. Forecast they are giving here is bad, one of the coldest winters we ever had they say. Well seeing it is believing it and I’ll wait and see.

YIKES, beware of Pixie! 😉 She is still cute to me!!!

That soup looks really great Lori. Might have to search that out! Too bad no pics of the BB’s & whipped cream!

Looks like a good workout for you!

The darkness is already wearing me out and the season has just begun 🙁

I thought of you when the Broncos won – I had picked them as well and it looked like they were going to lose again so I was holding my breath.

That was really sweet and thoughtful of John to offer to take you out!

I have been feeling overwhelmed and stressed lately too. 🙁

I’m ready for daylight savings time! I’m tired of it being dark so long in the mornings, but I’m not looking forward to it being dark earlier in the evening either…How about summer time? 🙂

Yes, I either use a mandolin to shred the sprouts, or just use a knife to do it (most times the knife is my choice).

i read somewhere that ‘you guys’ up north are suppose to have a cold, snowy season like you did last year and the south ‘us guys’ are supposes to have warmer and dryer….just like last year so yup it looks like a repeat.

A corn maze is near the top of my ‘to do’ list when i get to CA. They used to have some not too far from here that i never made it to but now its been so dry the business has dried up. I like the idea of the flag. My daughters been to the one in CA but didn’t mention a flag.

YOur calming guru has it right one thing at a time. It can be a difficult thing to do when your brain is not wired that way. Are you a procrastinator? Boy Howdy i’am thats usually the culprit if i end up trying to do everything at once. Stay warm girlie! 88 here today 54 is the high on Thurs! Found my big red warm hoodie. I’m going to live in it for a day or two. lol! Hugs! deb

I can’t handle super chunky soups either – love that you added the lentils – it wasn’t too salty?? That’s my only complaint with store bought soups. 🙁

Hi Lori. Hope your Tuesday is a bit calmer than your Monday. OMG…Pixie! Hilarious. She looks like a tough cookie in that picture – so she’s the “Pixinator”!
