Weekend roundup, rehab, riding, and repast

Happy Easter for those that celebrate 😀

**picture heavy post coming up**

Saturday was dreary and rainy – so that meant renovations!  We are just trucking along right now. Floor tiling is all done:

Still need to grout.  Nice change from this:

To this:

Even without the grout it is sooooo much better!

New lighting fixture that worked the first time we put it up there.

Easiest lighting fixture ever to install.  This room used to just have a light hanging by a cord and a hook that we had to switch on and off.  Now we have a wall switch like real people!

Painting is done in the pantry room.  All this room needs is the wall backsplash and doors for the pantry!

We purchased the sink and terlet for the bathroom.  It’s one of the eco friendly ones that has 2 different flushes for less water usage.  Yay!

We were a little worried about clearance space for the back toilet tank as our plumbing moved a bit during final installation, so we were sweating a little bit.  This isn’t exactly where it is going, but close.  I can taste the end of the project!

Food was spot on for Saturday.  I’m in the zone now, which I will take and ride for as long as it lasts!

Sunday morning the rain broke and the temps were warm enough at  48 degrees to ride to bagels!

I did run over a broken beer bottle about a  mile in and ended up with this:

Fast flat. Sigh.  We patched it and kept going.  It did delay us quite a bit and I was about bonking by the time we got to Panera Bread!  If I had known I was going to get a flat, I would have eaten a bigger snack.

We take the main roads on Sunday rather than the path because it is quiet on Sundays and quicker to get to breakfast that way.

Unfortunately, they are building a Walmart on this road, so that might impact our riding on it anymore.  There probably will be too much traffic.

Breakfast time!

The ride home was really fast without having the flat and a nice tailwind to boot!

16 miles round trip.

My Easter treat today?

I can’t have these in the house as these are my very, very favorite candy.  Any chocolate/PB combo.  I bought a single egg so I wouldn’t even have the 6-pack in the house.  It was really good!

My parents invited the family to dinner on Sunday.

Guess who brought the big bowl of fruit?

I also brought the coconut bread biscuits, but I think only my dad liked them besides John and I.

My plate:

Yum!  We had dessert later.  There was a vanilla cake with frosting.

I did not have any cake, but I ate a bunch of the little malted eggs.  I like those.  I did have some ice cream and coffee.

I would give myself a C for eating today.  A few too many nuts and the malted eggs, but I am not stuffed, which feels great!

Came home to Pixie all snuggled into pillows.

She’s so cute!

Now for a nice relaxing evening!

Question:  What was the best thing you ate this weekend?

Hmmmmm… the best for me thing was probably spinach salad and strawberries. The most tasty thing was the Reese’s pb egg. I did the same as you and purchased just 1. Love that pb and chocolate combination. The renovations look awesome – you guys are pros!

Another PB and chocolate lover here! Alas, I did not have one this Easter – although I’m sure my office will be crawling with excess candy tomorrow.

I had PB froyo today with crumbled Reese’s on top! I opted for that over the PB egg I was contemplating.

Vanilla cake presents quite the quandary. It’s kind of plain tasting, but on the other hand, it IS cake. I think I would have gone for the ice cream, too, and maybe crumbled some malted eggs on top.

    Floors look great!

The best thing I ate this weekend was frozen Reese peanut butter ice cream cups! Bit of useless information…apparently it is Reese’s in the US and Reese in Canada. Who knew?

Except for the flat, it sounds like a great day.

    Love the tile!

    Best/Worst thing I ate:

Eggs Benedict with a twist…English Muffin, chopped cooked bacon, sauteed spinach, green pepper, onion, poached egg, made from scratch Hollandaise, hash browns, and the best ever apple cake (similar in density to a carrot cake with apples/brown sugar/cinnamon) with cream cheese frosting. I did only eat half of everything though.
I think I just used my May splurge meal! That Reese’s PB egg is looking mighty good!

Mmm. Had my traditional Palmer’s chocolate bunny (the smallest one instead of the biggest one like the olden days) and some marshmallow peeps that my friend gave me. AND an unbelievable steak and baked potato. mmmm. Everything I ate today was stupendous!!! I think I will finish with some popcorn and a little chocolate.

Your renovations look fantastic. It looks like you had a really great day.

I usually opt for the tart froyo, but occasionally indulge in the peanut butter froyo with some kind of chocolate topping.

Hi Lori! I’m so glad that you’ve been able to get on your bike and RIDE! Woo hoo!!! And I’m impressed with how nice your renovations are looking. Mr. H&H repainted our kitchen, and we both still gaze and it and go…”Man, what TOOK us so long?!”

I had my Reese’s egg, too. Nummers! I also enjoyed ham, which we hardly ever have, and broccoli.

Lori, you guys are so good at that home stuff! Amazes me!

Glad you got out & enjoyed the biking and always love how you show people one can still enjoy & then just get back to it!

Love the Pixie pic! That is the life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your renovations go by much quicker than mine. Mine tend to last for years. LOL! Everything looks good. And oooh boy those chocolate peanutbutter eggs are to die for and are at the top of my list of fav Easter candy. Marshmallow peeps are at the top too. Had some peeps this year but managed to stay away from the rest. You always make me want to ride my bike!

Your renovations look great! I know you are looking forward to end. I see not even a flat tire can come between you and your bagel:D

  11. Roz

The reno is looking GREAT!!! All the hard work is paying off. Other than the tire incident, looks like a great day. Pixie IS SOOOOO cute!!! Have a good Monday Lori.

  12. Joanne

The floor looks great. Like it! 🙂
Sorry about the flat. That looks bad. Ted took his bike out this morning and all the stones & crap from the winter are gouging his rims – it’s getting stuck in the brakes.

Easter – we had some good food. I think the best was the Babka. Figures – my bread weakness.

  13. Lisa

    Bummer about the flat tire!

Your good looks yummy. The best thing I had was probably the deviled eggs yesterday. They are so delicious!

  14. Leah

The best thing I ate this weekend was brownies at a potluck.

Your favorite candy is also my absolute favorite!!!! 😀

The renovation is really going well, you can see improvement everytime you post new pics.

The Eastern meal looks delicious, must have been fun to be with the entire family again.
