I'm late - but I think you did an awesome job on the 5k Lori!! To be honest, I haven't even been running since I came to Toronto because it is so friggin' hot/muggy/humid/smoggy. I haven't even had the guts to sign up for a race, let alone do one!! I think you're off a great start this season after the injury :)

Oh, and the Tour. Sigh. Contador IS the better overall rider. By a hair this year. I'm not sure if he'll snag it again next year though! Andy is still pretty young and has may good years of racing left in him.

Congrats on the race! And no mention of your previous injury so you must be feeling good about the running then?!

Great job! And that's a great time especially with a nasty side stitch.
Love the swag bag. All I got was a Tshirt on my last 10k. Bring on the swag!

Congrats on a great race! How fun that you both get to run together! And that swag bag is truly amazing. Most races only give out a t-shirt here, although I've gotten some interesting items, like a trial size antiperspirant that smelled just like watermelon Jolly Ranchers!

I was there. I was the one who who met fellow blogger AJH. When's your next race?

You're right. I don't believe that is your husband next to me. Seriously I do believe it but that is pretty amazing! I hope he had a good race too! Was he as hot and wiped as I was?

Those look like some awesome race goodies you were given!!! Way to go on the 5k! :-)

You asked about whether I worry about "peaking too early for an event." (I didn't know if you'd look back to my blog for my responce?) So, anyhow, since my main goal is just to FINISH this first half iron, I'm really not worried. My training is not as intense as some of my friends that are really trying to improve their times from prior races like this one. Like I said, I think I could already finish it if it were next week. So, for the last few weeks of training (before my taper) I will work a bit on my speed, while keeping up the long distances. Maybe I can meet my secondary goal of finishing under 7 hours. :)

I was at the race too and it was incredibly hot and humid. Just the worst of conditions for racing. Finishing at all on a day like that is a bonus. And the food they hand out is superb. I've already finished my Freihofer cookies (oink!).

Fran sent me over here as she realized she was reading race reports about the same race. I also ran the Silks and Satins race yesterday. Man it was hot! I wish I had known about the bagel place. I would have loved to have gone there. I went to Target after and did a department store shop as we have no Target! Nice job on the race on such a hot day!
