I’m cool like that

Hump day for me!  Yeah!  I got some good sleep and was hungry for breakfast.  I decided on pumpkin cream of wheat.  I think my pumpkin stash might make it until fall.

This bowl contained whole grain Cream of Wheat, 1/2 cup pumpkin, cinnamon, 1.5 tsp of molasses, 2 egg whites, topped with crystallized ginger and toasted almonds.

This bowl actually only lasted me about 2-1/2 hours and I had half of a Luna Protein bar to tide me over to lunch.

Not sure I am that crazy about these?

Speaking of lunch:

Egg salad!  I have been wanting this for a while, but keep forgetting to hard boil eggs.

So, the appetite seems strong today.  I ended up eating the other half of the mid morning snack in the afternoon.  Just before drinking this:

I added 7 grams of whey protein isolate to this to give me about 6 g extra of protein.  Could not even taste it.  Nice.  Isolate is the whey way to go.

So, my new bike jersey arrived!

LOVE!!!! And let me tell you – when they warn you to order a size up for European sizes, do it.  I got a large and if I had gotten a medium, I would have popped out the seams in front…..

I couldn’t wait until after dinner to go for a ride.  I finally broke out the “noodles” for dinner:

The package said to rinse and parboil to reduce the “authentic aroma.”  No joke.  So why did I proceed to smell the freshly opened package?

Nas-tay.  I rinsed copiously and added to a sautee pan with sweet potatoes, broccoli, chicken and some BBQ sauce.

Verdict?  They are completely tasteless, which is fine, but the texture was rubbery.  Not like pasta at all.  Not really like anything I have ever eaten, except maybe those pink erasers when I was 5.   So now I know.

John and I got geared up for a post dinner jaunt.  Ready for a ride to yogurt 😀

Bright sun, it makes me look like Casper.  These are my new bike shorts as well.

We rode 15 miles round trip and I was getting a lot of looks on the bike trail with this shirt.  With my gold helmet and clip shoes – I don’t think I have ever felt this cool in my whole entire life.  Note that I really am not cool, but who knew you could buy the feeling for about $75 and free shipping?? 😎

Stop for the treat:

Coconut yogurt topped with pineapple.  Quite good, although this pineapple was pretty sweet.

I almost didn’t want to take my jersey off when I got home.  I swear it made me faster today.  Hope you all like it, because you’ll be seeing a lot of it this summer

You are the epitome of cool in your new gear!

Pineapple and coconut…two of my favourites.

I am never going to try shirataki noodles. I can’t even imagine what they smell like and I don’t want to experience it.

Now the egg salad…I love that!

Great jersey! I see a lot of bikers on my running/bike trail, but that’s the coolest jersey I’ve seen. And you’ve made me crave egg salad. I really need it. LOL Maybe tomorrow, for lunch. I’ve tried the ShiraTaki noodles too. I didn’t pre-smell them, but took their advice and washed the heck out of them. I had mine with a great stir fry and they were okay, but not great. I also enjoyed the fine kindergarten cuisine of pink erasers, but I hadn’t noticed the resemblance.

That is one sweet jersey!!! And you look awesome in it – I am still loving your new haircut as well!

Love the thought of “buying” awesome – I’d say you got a bargain for $75! I felt that way on Sunday when I ran with my new Garmin – I was fast…sure it was all due to the device strapped to my wrist, lol!

Those noodles? Never tried ’em. I have to give you credit for continuing to cook and eat them after smelling them…they would have ended up in my garbage can right away!

Great shirt, Lori! It suits you. Oh, also, I don’t remember you eating pink erasers when you were five. Guess I missed that! I think I missed a lot of things! I don’t think I will be trying those noodles any time soon.

Now that’s the sort of bike jersey I can understand and like. The ones that just have a bunch of companies names on I don’t get. I mean they’re fine for the pros but for us amateurs I caan’t see wearing them.

That oatmeal looks delicious, and coconut and pineapple are favorites of mine. Yum! The new bike jersey is also fantastic – and you look great in it. It definitely has more personality than most off-the-shelf ones I have seen. Good in for about ordering up a size, its one of those things that can be so hard to approximate without trying the item on!

Well our weather forecasters predict a hot summer here in Holland but so far haven’t seen much of it yet.

You’re definitely very, very cool Lori. I like your shirt very much.

LOL at the noodles! It took me a few times to get used to them, but now I buy copious amounts and mix them in soups and with bold flavors and lots of veggies. They have become what I call “background food.”

    Love your shirt!

You are way too cool. I love your new bike jersey.

I don’t think I’ll be trying those noodles anytime soon. Yuck!

    MMMMmmmm…coconut yogurt 😉

Love the shirt! And what’s up with teh pumpkin? I didn’t realize that was a seasonal item until just a few weeks ago. NONE in any store anywhere. Seriously you do need a stash!

BTW– repaying the compliment, looking at you in your bike gear, you would have never known you were 115 pounds heavier. Your legs are tiny!

OMG, LOVE the jersey! She’s such a symbol of empowerment, that’s why I love her so much.

Oh, and P.S. I SO did crawl into your head and write that post. That’s how I roll. 😉

    Have a great day!

    Love the jersey!

I am so sad to read about the noodles. I have two (why did I buy two of mystery noodle I’ve never tried?) in the fridge and I was scared of them before. Now I’m really afraid to open them. lol! I was hoping the comments would have a few “oh I love those” but nope. Bad reviews all around!

Okay, I told myself I wouldn’t comment on every post – but I can’t help it! I LOVE that jersey. I’ve seen you post that photo before, it is SO “Lori”! And I hear ya on the cycling sizes. My Garneau shorts are a large and still too small on me. And my legs are pretty small compared to the rest of me…

I don’t love noodles, but I really like the shiratake ones. They remind me of rice noodles which I much prefer to the flour ones 🙂

adorable!! I love the jersey and that pic of you after you smelled the ‘noodles’ is priceless!!

I’ve been eyeballing those noodles for about a year now, normally I’m pretty adventurous when it comes to food but for some reason every time I pick them up I put them back down… I’ve never been able to bring myself to buy them, now I know why- they’re nas-tay!

but the yogurt… you had me at coconut!!
    xoxo
